Faye - Sounds like your APW event was very successful.  Nice that the chamber is an Associate Member.

Way to go Central Arkansas Chapter!  I love the idea of incorporating live music into your event.  In December, as part of our holiday party and chapter anniversary, we have had an acapella vocal group in from the University of Delaware and also a group of ladies called the Sweet Adelines - who are very entertaining with their barber-shop quartet style music.  I think it's a great idea to shake it up from the regular meeting/event atmosphere.

For our APW event, the Delaware Chapter joined together with the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce (one of our associate members) to host our third annual APW breakfast.  Our theme is Educate-Motivate-Celebrate, and we have speakers and activities that go along with that theme.  We also sponsor an Admin of the Year award where employers can nominate their admins for recognition.  It's been very well received by the community and given us another way of reaching businesses who do not know about IAAP. We had around 110 attend this year's event.  Hosting this event with the Chamber has been awesome.  They have the means to track registration and accept online payments, and with over 5,000 members/businesses, the sponsorship and vendor faire exhibitors, etc., help us to get the word out about IAAP and the benefits of membership in a way that is much larger than anything our chapter could do by itself.  We are very fortunate to have the Chamber as an associate member.

It's great to hear the reports from the chapters around the country and how they celebrated APW - there are some very creative chapters out there!

Wow Theda!

We at the Bangor Area Chapter also enjoyed a wonderful APW 2013, and as Event Chair (and a former A-Team viewer!) I, too, could adopt your phrasing "I love it when a plan comes together".  We had generous sponsors who helped us bring in two dynamic local professional speakers, a delicious lunch in a well-equipped facility and lots of door prizes, and we sent our attendees home with bags filled with fun gifts from area businesses.  Our registration numbers were up and our feedback ratings far exceeded last years' and I can honestly and proudly say we put on a quality event.

But I can't say it was as cool as yours!  I love live music (and hope to include that in future events) and REAL Music sounds like a wonderful and unique group.  I am also a Biggest Loser fan, and Becky was one of my favorite contestants.  I would have LOVED to be there!!  Not only did your plan come together, but--clearly--it was a great plan.  Hannibal would be so proud!

Way to "Be the One", Theda, and way to inspire the rest of us to go bigger and better next year!

~Nancy

I love it when a plan comes together ... APW 2013

Back in the 80's one of my favorite television shows was The A-Team. Each episode ended with Hannibal Smith, cigar in mouth, stating "I love it when a plan comes together." That is exactly how I feel about APW 2013 (minus the cigar, of course).

Our very own A-Team begin meeting last August with the idea we would make APW 2013 one of the best events ever.  Although attendance was slightly down from last year, the survey results validated the team's hard work and commitment to making APW 2013 one for the record books.

We learned from the survey what we're doing right: the location, lunch, gifts bags, and door prizes were a big hit. Our programs and speakers received high marks and most popular was our lunch entertainment, REAL Entertaining. Thanks to everyone who filled out the survey. We do listen and your comments are invaluable to future committees.

My favorite part of APW 2013 was not even on the agenda. During lunch we enjoyed the music of REAL Entertaining from Jacksonville, AR. REAL Entertaining is comprised of four sisters named Rebecca, Emily, Abigail, and Lydia whose ages range from 8 to 13 years old. These four young ladies demonstrated the values found in learning and excelling in music by playing a wide variety of favorite songs on the accordion, pennywhistle, violin, and harmonica - instruments that few children learn to play. We enjoyed standards such as "Danny Boy," "My Heart Will Go On" from the movie Titanic, and "Proud to be an American."

Turns out our lunch entertainment group was HUGE fans of our keynote speaker, Becky Comet from Season 12 of NBC's Biggest Loser. When they saw her name on our agenda they asked if they could stay for her presentation. Of course, I told them, no problem.

When Becky arrived I showed her to the dining area explaining some of her biggest fans were our lunch entertainment. Becky walked up to the fajita bar where the girls were preparing their plates and casually asked them, "What's good for lunch?" The surprise and excitement on their faces was priceless. Before lunch was over I think Becky was a HUGE fan of REAL Entertaining!

Our APW 2013 was a wonderful day enjoyed by all attendees and yes, the plan did come together!

I received my notification on May 2, via an e-mail sent to the account I used to register, from "HQP Office Team Response [response@officeteam.com]", subject "Thank you for attending our webinar."

The message specifically stated that it could be used "for verification purposes to receive credit from the [IAAP]."

I hope this helps!

Thank you everyone for the info.  My concern was that I never received any e-mails regarding the webinar after I registered.  I had to go back to the original IAAP Connections newsletter and click on that link in order to attend.  I guess I'll wait a few weeks and see if I receive anything.  I did take a screenshot while in the webinar, in case that can be used as evidence of my attendence.
